The 2025 EQS has received an S-Class inspired makeover that includes a new grille and hood ornament

Mercedes has unveiled the facelifted EQS, ahead of its debut at Auto China. While the model takes some cues from the S-Class, the changes are far from dramatic.
The flagship electric sedan now comes standard with a sporty AMG Line front bumper, but more notably, it has been equipped with a revised grille that features flush-mounted chrome slats to mimic the one found on the S-Class. Aiding this effort is a new hood ornament, which makes it clear the EQS isn’t just any old jelly bean, but a Mercedes one.

The updates continue inside as the 2025 EQS has additional chrome accents as well as enhanced rear seats that have an extra 0.2 inches (5 mm) of foam. Besides the extra padding, the rear seats have a backrest that can now be adjusted from 27 to 36 degrees at the touch of a button. Furthermore, the comfort pillows now have contrast stitching as well as Nappa leather piping.
Customers looking for the ultimate in rear seat comfort will want to opt for the Pinnacle trim and it’s optional Executive Interior Package. It adds a front passenger seat that can tip forward to increase second-row legroom. That isn’t the only party trick as the rear backrest reclines up to 38 degrees, while rear passengers will also find rapid heating for their butt, neck, and shoulders. The package also includes rear seats with pneumatic adjustment as well as illuminated trim on the back of the front seats.
On the performance front, the EQS has been equipped with an all-new battery that features a usable capacity of 118 kWh. That’s up from 108.4 kWh and the battery is accompanied by new braking software that allows for greater energy recuperation.
Thanks to these changes, the 2025 EQS has an increased range. The automaker didn’t release EPA numbers, but said the WLTP range climbs by up to 51 miles (82 km). Furthermore, European models equipped with all-wheel drive have an increased towing capacity of 3,748 lbs (1,700 kg). That’s more than a 100% improvement as they were previously limited to 1,653 lbs (750 kg).
On the topic of the Euro-spec EQS, it largely echoes the American variant but Mercedes revealed customers will find a new Automatic Lane Change function as well as a new special edition. The latter features 21-inch AMG wheels as well as the Executive package, which carries a slightly different name in Europe. Other highlights include two-tone Nappa leather, a microfiber headliner, rose gold accents, and anthracite open-pore wood trim.
Getting back to the American model, it will arrive at U.S. dealerships later this year. There’s no word on pricing, but the current EQS begins at $104,400.
