Newly Launched Tata Punch EV Now Available With A Rs. 50,000 Discount

Tata Motors, the famous Indian automaker renowned for its safe cars, is offering substantial discounts on its recently launched Punch EV. The car was launched in January 2024, and customers can avail of discounts of up to Rs 50,000 on the top-spec Punch EV Empowered +S LR AC fast charger (FC) variant.

Dealer sources have revealed to ACI that Tata dealerships across India received a larger inventory of the top-spec Empowered +S LR variant, equipped with a faster 7.2kW AC charger (AC FC), prior to the Punch EV’s launch on January 17.

To clear this inventory, dealerships are offering a flat Rs 20,000 discount along with insurance benefits and additional dealer discounts. These discounts add up to around Rs. 50,000, depending on unsold inventory. However, the maximum discounts of Rs. 50,000 is only on the top of the line Punch EV Empowered +S LR AC FC variant.

As per the reports, most Tata showrooms have around five to ten units of the Punch EV Empowered +S LR AC FC variant available for sale with these discounts. The price of the top spec model of Punch EV could be brought down to Rs. 15 lakhs from Rs. 15.49 lakhs after accounting for these discounts.

Even after the discounts, the top-spec variant of Punch EV’s main rival, Citroen eC3 Shine Dual Tone Vibe, remains Rs 1.5 lakh more affordable. Citroen eC3 Shine Dual Tone Vibe is priced at Rs. 13.49 lakhs ex showroom.

The Punch EV Empowered +S LR AC FC variant boasts a larger 35kWh battery, offering an ARAI-rated range of 421km. It also features a more powerful 122hp motor along with many premium features such as an electronic parking brake, hill-descent control, a sunroof, ambient lighting, leatherette seats, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, and dual 10.25-inch displays.

On the other hand, Punch EV also offers a smaller 25 kWh battery pack, which is paired with an 80 bhp electric motor delivering 114 Nm torque. This driving setup has a claimed ARAI driving range of around 315 kilometres. Please note that these are the claimed figures, and the real life figures may vary depending on factors such as driving style, traffic conditions, weather, and use of climate control.

The pricing of the Punch EV starts at Rs. 10.99 lakhs ex-showroom and goes up to 15.49 lakhs ex-showroom. It competes with cars such as the MG Comet EV, Nexon EV, Tiago EV, Citroen EC3 and XUV 400 EV.

Punch EV comes with a host of safety features such as six airbags, ABS with EBD, all four disc brakes, electronic stability control (ESC), 360-degree camera, hill hold assist, hill descent control and much more. The ICE version of Punch scored a 5-star safety rating in GNCAP, but the Punch EV is based on an entirely different platform. Hence, its safety ratings are not known yet.

It’s important to note that discounts may vary by location and depend on the availability of stock. Customers are advised to check with their local dealerships for exact discount figures and benefits applicable in their region.
