A WOMAN who sold all she has turned to life on the road with her blind dog to look for adventure and fun.

After having property, a nice car, a husband, and a decent salary, there was something that Christine Meachum felt was missing: freedom, she said.

Meachum decided to sell nearly everything she owned and travel the US out of her SUV with her blind elderly companion, Chase.

Now, she runs her YouTube channel (@Christine Meachum) documenting the various places she and Chase visit.

“After working for many years in sales and business ownership, I felt major burnout,” she wrote in the caption of her video.

“I sold my houses, extra cars, and most of my belongings. Now I’m happier than ever having very few material things. I travel living out of my vehicle with my old and blind best friend, Chase the Dog.”

Starting another chapter in her book of travels from her SUV, Meachum and Chase visit Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

When she and Chase got there, she aimed to see the sunrise, though the clouds that rolled in changed those plans.

As it started raining a lot harder than was predicted, Meachum made the best of it by showering in the rain.

“This is actually kind of fun,” she said.

“The whole world is my shower! It’s too close to a water source for me to use soap, but it’ll at least get the first layer of stink off.”

To celebrate being so close to the ocean, Meachum felt it most appropriate to enjoy some shrimp fresh from the trawl nets.

However, she was told by fishermen on their boats that the shrimping season was over, and that she couldn’t buy shrimp directly from them.

So, her next best bet was buying them from a seafood market in town, which disclosed to her that the shrimp they had were not fresh – they were frozen, but they’d been purchased from the fishermen in town.

Meachum bought a pound, and prepared them with garlic and butter, though she struggled as she’d never prepared whole shrimp before her visit.

Meachum whipped up her shrimp in garlic and butter and said that the proximity to the ocean added to the overall sensation.

“To be able to smell the ocean makes it an experience, this was so worth all the work it took to get here,” she said.

Before taking to the road again, Meachum took Chase through the town’s farmer’s market to explore some local goods.

To help celebrate another trip well done, she’d bought Chase a bacon and cheese cupcake, and herself some locally made egg rolls, fried to order.

“A bacon and cheese cupcake sounds really gross but I’m sure you’re going to love it,” she told Chase.
