Cybertruck Deliveries Reportedly Halted Over Loose Accelerator Pedal

  • Buyers expecting to receive their new Tesla Cybertrucks in the coming days started complaining on Friday that their appointments had been canceled.
  • Reports indicate that the cause of the delays is an issue with the accelerator pedal.
  • Over the weekend, an owner complained that the faceplate slid off the accelerator pedal in the vehicle, leading to unintended acceleration.

Tesla customers expecting to receive their Cybertrucks soon have started complaining that their delivery appointments are being canceled over an “unexpected issue.” Reports indicate that a problem with the accelerator pedal is behind the delays.

Members of the Cybertruck Owners Club forum started posting about cancellations on the evening of Friday, April 12. One buyer said that his delivery appointment was canceled just 13 hours before he was supposed to pick up his new truck.

Another buyer said that they experienced the same thing and copied the message they received from Tesla to the forum. The note blamed the cancellation on “an unexpected delay regarding the preparation of your vehicle.”

Unfortunately, the letter did not point to a specific reason for the delay. Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but forum members suggested that the issue was related to the accelerator pedal.

On Saturday, April 13, the X account @WholeMarsBlog, which frequently posts about Tesla, wrote that the automaker had canceled all Cybertruck deliveries for seven days. It also listed the accelerator as the reason for the postponement.

Again, little more information is available, but it does follow concerning reports from owners. The Cybertruck owner behind the @el.chepito1985 TikTok account posted about an issue he experienced while driving.

He said that the faceplate slid off his accelerator pedal and lodged itself in a small gap between the floor and another interior panel. That caused the pedal to be held all the way down, leading to unintended acceleration. Fortunately, the owner said he was able to keep his cool, and the brakes were capable of overpowering the motors, but it remained an alarming experience.

We also recently posted about an owner, with a separate accelerator issue. Thomas Remo, the man behind the Gear Down YouTube channel, reported that his Cybertruck lost the ability to accelerate every time he tried to go full throttle in Beast Mode. However, according to a service order he posted at the end of his video about the truck, that issue actually related to a loose electrical cable.
