Maruti Suzuki India Limited is gearing up for the launch of the new fourth-generation Swift. The launch date has been confirmed for the 9th of May. Now, according to reports, the new Swift coming to India will look the same as the international model. However, there will be some differences between the two models. So here is the list of all the changes that are expected on the new Swift coming next month.
Maruti Suzuki Swift: India vs International
Exterior differences
The first thing that has been reported is that the front and rear bumpers will be tweaked in the Indian version of the Swift. As we have already seen in numerous different videos and pictures, the new Swift will get a brand new redesigned front and rear end.
The main highlight will be the new sleeker LED headlights with integrated L-shaped LED DRLs. This will be the same on both the Indian and international models. There will also be a new grille with diamond-shaped elements.
Another difference between the two models will be the use of black elements on the exterior. Moving on to the side profile, the Swift will come equipped with a new set of 16-inch alloy wheels. Now, although they will look similar to the ones seen on the international model, they will not be the same.
It has been reported that they will be slightly different. Additionally, the company will also offer different wheels with the mid-spec variants of the new hatchback. The C-pillar will also be blacked out in the India-spec Swift to provide it with a floating roof aesthetic.
Moving on the rear, there will be new LED taillights. However, unlike the international model, the rear bumper will be changed. Lastly, the new Swift in India will also get its rear camera mounted on the bootlid.
Interior updates
Most likely there will not be too many differences between the Indian and the international Swifts’ interior. They both will have the same 9-inch touchscreen infotainment screen borrowed from other Maruti models.
The overall layout will also be the same as the Brezza, Baleno, and Fronx. The new Swift will get a layered dashboard design with a dual-tone scheme. It will add to the premium appeal of this hatchback’s interior.
The international model gets an electronic parking brake and a 360-degree camera. However, most likely the Indian model will miss out on these features. Additionally, there will be no ADAS in the India-spec model.
Powertrain differences
Maruti Suzuki will be offering the new fourth-generation Swift with a brand new engine. It will now ditch the old K12D engine and will come equipped with a new Z-Series engine. It will be a 3-cylinder petrol engine which could come equipped with a 12V mild-hybrid system.
The international Swift makes a total power output of 82 bhp and 112 Nm of torque. However, if the Indian model will come with a 12V Hybrid system is yet to be seen.
Additionally, the international model comes with options of 5-speed manual and CVT transmissions. However, the India-spec model is expected to come with a 5-speed manual transmission and an AMT transmission.
Lastly, the company also offers the Swift with its All-Grip AWD system internationally. However, it will not be coming to India with this system.
