Skoda has just reintroduced the third-gen Superb in India, a car that was discontinued last year after the BS6 Stage 2 norms came into effect. Currently, Skoda is importing the Superb as a completely built unit (CBU) unit which means it has to face the strict taxation policies of the nation. Due to this, the car is priced at Rs. 54 lakhs.
For reference, the Superb was priced at Rs. 34.99 lakhs for the L&K trim in 2021. This marks an increase of Rs. 16.71 lakhs for exactly the same car with upgrades such as ADAS, 360 camera, dynamic chassis control and more. However, the sedan is limited to just 100 units.
This makes us think that Skoda is introducing the 2024 Superb to clear inventory. Globally, the Superb has moved on to the fourth generation, which is a significant upgrade over the third-gen model.
Skoda introduced the fourth-gen Superb internationally in November last year. Even though the car launched today is not the all-new fourth-gen model, this iteration of the Superb is still packed with exciting features and technology.
Skoda has launched only one variant of the Superb in India which is the top of the line L&K (Laurin and Klement) trim offering premium features and luxury. One of the notable additions is the dynamic chassis control that will increase car’s handling and performance.
Under the hood, the Superb is powered by a robust BS6 Phase II-compliant 2.0-liter-4 cylinder turbo petrol engine, delivering 190 Bhp of peak power and 320 Nm of torque. Paired with a smooth 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox, this powertrain ensures a seamless and fun driving experience.
In terms of design and aesthetics, the 2024 Skoda Superb reeks of elegance and sophistication. As reported earlier, customers have the option to choose from three stunning exterior paint shades – Rosso Brunello (New), Water World Green (New), and Magic Black, all complemented by stylish 18-inch alloy wheels. The interior is equally impressive, featuring a 9-inch Columbus Infotainment system, providing seamless connectivity and entertainment on the go.
Key Features of the 2024 Superb
• Adaptive Auto LED headlamps
• LED fog lamps with cornering function
• Ventilated and massaging 12-way adjustable front seats
• Wireless charging
• 3-zone AC
• Canton sound system featuring 11 speakers
• Digital instrument cluster
Safety remains a top priority for Skoda, with the 2024 Superb equipped with advanced features such as active tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) nine airbags, dynamic chassis control, parking assist and emergency braking assist, ensuring peace of mind for both driver and passengers.
Looking ahead, Skoda has exciting plans in store for the Indian market. Alongside the reintroduction of the Superb, the brand is gearing up to launch an all-new sub-4m compact SUV, positioned to rival popular models such as the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, and Kia Sonet.
With a focus on innovation and customer satisfaction, Skoda is set to make a lasting impact in India’s automotive landscape. Following the launch of Superb, Skoda has plans to reintroduce the Octavia as well. In addition to this, Skoda has plans to launch its first ever EV which is the Enyaq. Other launched include, updated Kushaq, Slavia and the Kodiaq.
