For the 2024 model year, Kia Motors India has given its MPV, Carens, 7 new variants. It has also launched a diesel-manual powertrain for the Carens as well. With these 7 newly added variants, the total number of variants has become 30. A number of new features have been added to this popular MPV. Kia Carens now starts at Rs 10.52 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 19.67 lakh.
Kia Carens’ New Diesel Manual Variant
Starting off with the newest introduction, Kia has launched the diesel-manual option for the Carens. Prior to the introduction of this powertrain combination, the diesel engine Carens was only available with the iMT and standard automatic transmission. This new drivetrain has been introduced to lure in more buyers for this MPV.
Other New Variants Added to the Lineup
In addition, the company has also launched a number of new variants. These new variants include Premium (O), Prestige (O), and Prestige+ (O). Starting off with the Premium (O) variant, this variant comes equipped with keyless entry and an 8-inch infotainment screen.
This variant, over the standard Premium variant, also gets a shark fin antenna, steering-wheel-mounted controls, and a burglar alarm. As for the Prestige (O) variant, this variant comes equipped with a leatherette-wrapped gear knob and a smart key with push-button start.
Additionally, the Prestige (O) variant also offers rear LED lights, LED DRLs, and a positioning lamp. The company is now also offering this new model with a choice between 6 and 7 seat layouts.
As for the Prestige+ (O) variant, this newly introduced variant over the Prestige+ gets a number of new features. This new variant will now come with an electric sunroof, an LED map lamp, and a room lamp.
Additionally, it also gets 180W smartphone chargers as standard. Prior to this, the Carens came with only 120W smartphone chargers. Another one of the new updates of the Carens is the introduction of the Pewter Olive color.
Kia Carens Powertrains
At the moment, the Kia Carens comes offered with three engine options and multiple transmission options. The first option is the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated diesel engine. This motor generates a maximum power of 116 bhp and 250 Nm of torque.
It now comes with three transmission options. The first is the newly introduced 6-speed manual, the second is the 6-speed iMT. Meanwhile, the third is a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Apart from the diesel motor, there are two petrol engine options.
The first is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. It generates a maximum power of 115 bhp and 144 Nm of torque. This motor comes with a 6-speed manual transmission only. The engine option is the most powerful 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine.
This engine produces 160 bhp and 253 Nm of torque. It is the same engine that comes in the Seltos as well Creta and Alcazar. It is offered with two transmission options including 6-speed iMT and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
2024 Kia Carens: Pricing and Competition
As stated, the 2024 Kia Carens starts at Rs 10.52 lakh. From there, it goes all the way up to Rs 19.67 lakh for the X-Line variant. The newly launched variants start at Rs 12.12 lakh.
Meanwhile, in terms of competition, the Kia Carens has a number of them. These rivals include Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, XL6, Toyota Rumion, Toyota Innova Crysta, and Hyundai Alcazar. Additionally, it also competes with Mahindra Marazzo as well in the country.
