Tata Motors will introduce a new body style in the Indian affordable car segment through the Currv’s coupe SUV form factor. For those who don’t know, coupe SUVs have a roofline similar to that of a coupe while maintaining the high ground clearance and practicality of a SUV.
The Curvv EV is anticipated to offer a range of up to 500 km, making it a viable option for daily commuting and longer journeys. Multiple variants are speculated to be available, including a long-range version with a driving range of 500 km and a medium-range version offering a lower range of around 350-400 Kms. As the Indian EV infrastructure develops, buying electric vehicles will become a much more sensible option, especially for those who drive a lot.
The Tata Curvv has a bold and innovative design that is different from typical SUVs. The Coupe SUV will feature design elements such as premium full-width LED DRLs, LED headlights, and flush door handles. The Curvv showcases a premium aesthetic. Additionally, the showcased model at the Expo sported 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels with a petal-style design.
The upcoming Tata Curvv promises a luxurious interior with premium materials, drawing inspiration from the Tata Nexon. Features such as a sunroof, steering-mounted controls, wireless charging, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster are expected. Some rumours suggest that the Curvv will also come equipped with ADAS.
The Curvv EV will be sold through the brand’s new EV-only dealerships, positioned above the Nexon EV in Tata Motors’ lineup. While the front design resembles the Nexon facelift, significant changes can be observed in the side profile and rear of the Curvv EV. It features a sleek coupe-like profile with a sloping rear portion and distinctive LED tail lamps.
Regarding powertrain options, Tata Motors will offer the Curvv with internal combustion engines and electric powertrains. The diesel variant will be powered by a 1.5-litre engine producing 113 Bhp of maximum power and 260 Nm of peak torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or an automatic transmission.
Additionally, there will be a new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine with direct injection, delivering 123 bhp of power and 225 Nm of torque. However, Tata Motors will initially launch the Curvv in an EV version only.
There will be two battery pack options on ofer: a smaller 30 kWh and a larger 40.5 kWh, similar to what we saw in the Nexon EV MR and Nexon EV LR. The smaller battery pack will offer range around 350 km, and the larger one is expected to deliver around 500 km on a single charge.
There is no official news regarding the price, but reports suggest it will be available in the 15-20 lakh price range. With its innovative design, versatile powertrain options, and focus on sustainability, the Curvv EV aims to be the next big thing from Tata Motors for the electric vehicle space. The Currv will be one of the 5 new, upcoming EVs from Tata Motors.
