Finally, the date for the launch of the new fourth-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift has been revealed. It has been reported by Autocar India that the new Swift will be launched on May 9. It has also been reported that although the majority of the design will look the same as the international model, there will be a few India-specific changes on the 2024 Maruti Swift.
2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift: Design Details
The newest generation of the Swift will be getting an extensively revised exterior and interior. On the outside, it will be getting a brand-new LED headlight design which will integrate L-shaped LED DRLs, providing the front of the Swift with a very sleek and modern appearance. In India, as you can see in the featured image at the top, the Swift will probably have the chrome surround around the front grille on all variants – or almost all of them. Chrome sells in India, and Maruti is not likely to drop it in the Indian market.
Apart from this, the car will get a new front grille and a new front bumper. As per the reports, the Swift coming to India will see some changes on the front bumper and rear bumper. The front number plate housing will reportedly be larger.
Additionally, it has also been stated that there will be no contrasting black elements on the India-spec model. It will get a similar bonnet though. Moving on to the side profile, it will also not be getting the exact same five-spoke aero blade-style alloy wheels. Rather, there will be a slight change in the design to make the wheels snazzier. In India, the trend is in favour of diamond-cut alloy wheel style now, and we suspect Maruti would follow the trend in India.
In addition, the mid-spec variants will also get a different design for wheels. Carrying on with the differences, the C-pillar reportedly will get blacked out. This will be done to provide a floating roof appearance.
Rear design: India specific changes
As for the rear, the new Swift will get a set of redesigned LED taillights. They will have a new layout and will look a lot more modern. We can expect some amount of chrome on the rear boot lid too. Lastly, the rear camera of this car will be mounted on the rear bumper.
Interior and Safety
Coming to the interior, the new Swift will get a much more premium and modern-looking dashboard layout. It will take its inspiration from the Fronx and Baleno. There will be a dual-tone color scheme with light and dark colors to enhance its appeal.
The photo of the new Swift’s interior is from the European Swift – in India, the steering wheel and controls would all be on the right side. But no official pictures of the interior are out yet, nor do we have any spy shots. Expect Maruti to keep the interior smart and snazzy, and even add a bit of colour on the dash.
The main stage will be taken by the same 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system as its siblings. It will come with Android Auto and Apple Carplay. There will also be a wireless charging pad and a few other features such as automatic climate control.
In terms of safety, Maruti Suzuki will be offering the new Swift with six airbags, ABS, EBD, and ESP. These will be standard features, and there will also be a three-point seatbelt for the second-row middle passenger. Sadly, India-spec cars will not get a 360-degree camera and ADAS.
Powertrain Details
Coming to the engine and transmission options, the Swift will be offered with a brand-new engine. It will now come powered by a 1.2-litre Z-Series 3-cylinder petrol engine. It will produce around 83 bhp and 112 Nm of torque.
The international car comes equipped with a five-speed manual transmission, and there is also an optional CVT automatic transmission. However, in India, we will only get the manual transmission option along with an AMT gearbox.
Additionally, the international model also gets a 12V mild hybrid system as well. However, the India-spec model could be launched without it.
