Maruti Suzuki launched the Grand Vitara in April 2023 to compete in the Indian compact SUV segment. This segment includes prominent players such as Creta, Seltos, Kushaq and Taigun. Today, we will learn about the base Sigma variant on the Grand Vitara via a YouTube video uploaded by Car Quest.
The video starts with the front look of the car. Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara follows the industry trend of bumper-mounted headlights with indicators and DRLs placed close to the bonnet. Upfront, the SUV comes with a big gloss black grille along with a chrome garnish, which also incorporates the brand’s logo. The headlight setup is a single projector-based halogen unit. On the other hand, the DRLs and indicators are LED. A notable addition in the front is a gunmetal grey skid plate.
Coming to the side profile of the SUV, it comes with 17-inch steel rims with wheel covers. Even though this is the base variant of the SUV, it has body colored door handles and body colored ORVMs with integrated indicators. The ORVMs are electrically adjustable and foldable. Another interesting bit is the presence of keyless entry and push button start. Maruti has offered these features as standard in the Grand Vitara.
The rear profile of the car may disappoint some as it lacks features such as rear wiper, rear washer and reverse parking camera. Features in the rear include defogger, connected taillight and four reverse parking sensors.
Now, let’s talk about the interior of the SUV. The lack of features is evident in the interior. The cabin is finished in a black and brown theme. The host mentions that the interior lacks a premium feel as it has no soft-touch materials. The car shown in the video is fitted with an aftermarket infotainment system, and the Grand Vitara Sigma does not offer a factory music system.
Other features in the interior include steering-mounted multimedia controls, two speakers, a 12V socket, a sliding centre armrest, fabric upholstery, a two-dial instrument cluster with a small coloured multi-information display (MID) and auto AC. Amenities in the rear seat include rear AC vents, adjustable headrests and a 60:40 split seat.
The pricing for Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara starts at Rs 10.99 lakhs and goes up to Rs 20.09 lakhs. The Sigma variant is only available with manual transmission, and it is priced at Rs. 10.99 lakhs.
The Grand Vitara is offered 3 engine and 3 transmission options:
• 1.5L Mild Hybrid Petrol: This is a budget-friendly option that provides a good balance of performance and fuel economy. This engine produces 103 hp and 137 Nm of torque. Buyers can opt for a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission with this engine. An all wheel drive layout is offered as an option.
• 1.5L CNG: This option is perfect for those seeking an eco-friendly and economical choice. The CNG engine is not offered with automatic transmission, and power is reduced to 88 hp and 122 Nm of torque.
• 1.5L Petrol Strong Hybrid: This advanced powertrain delivers exceptional fuel efficiency (ARAI claimed 27.97 Kmpl). The strong hybrid engine pumps out 116 Bhp- 141 Nm, and transmission option is limited to a CVT automatic gearbox.
The main highlight of Grand Vitara is its mileage figures. In the mild-hybrid version, the car gives 21.11 km/L, while with the strong hybrid options, this fuel economy is increased to 27.97 km/L. On the other hand, the CNG version can drive 26.6 km on one kg of gas. According to sources, a 7-seater version of the Grand Vitara is coming soon to rival the Alcazar, Safari and the XUV 700.
